Why We’re (SO) Excited for Content Marketing World

Content Marketing World 2014 is here! And that means content marketers are flocking by the thousands to Cleveland, Ohio for a week-long extravaganza hosted by the Content Marketing Institute.  At Marketo, we’ve been anxiously awaiting this coveted week of collaborating, sharing, note-taking, and hearing from some of the best content marketers, all at the biggest show devoted solely to content marketing. How could we not be thrilled?!

So it’s time to pack up your orange conference-wear (to match CMI’s signature color), gather up chargers for your electronic devices, and copy edit your business cards.  If you can’t make it to CMW this year, we’ll be live-tweeting and blogging about the goings-on all week. If you can make it, here are some of the things we’re looking forward to most – other than meeting all of you, of course:

1) Hearing from THE BEST

Over the next few days, there will be over 80 sessions led by content marketing geniuses from around the world. Need names? How about Julie Fleischer from Kraft Foods, Katrina Craigwell from General Electric, Ann Handley – the queen of content – Brandscaping author Andrew Davis, and so many more!

And because we can’t resist a shameless plug, our own in-house content wrangler (or, as I call her, the Word Wizard) Maggie Jones will be hosting a lunch and learn session about producing world-class content with a team of one. She’ll reveal how you can be a content rockstar – even without any backup singers.

2) Personalizing Your Experience

The beauty of Content Marketing World is that there are tons of ways to personalize your time. This afternoon, before the open sessions have even started, there are additional workshops on sales enablement, globalization, content curation, and other topics. On Thursday, there are additional “labs” to attend. On Tuesday and Wednesday, you can choose from a long list of sessions, lunch and learns, speakers, and more, ranging from beginner basics to more advanced drill-downs, and tailored for enterprise, SMB, and consumer marketers. CMW is your show!

3) Networking

…and we don’t mean your usual, worse-than-getting-a-root-canal type of networking – at CMW, you’ll be networking with your peers. How are often are you in a room (or an expo hall) full of people who have the same career passions as you? Last year, over 1,700 marketers from 46 countries attended CMW; this year, they’re expecting an even bigger turnout.

Because this conference is a once-a-year experience, make it count. Come prepared with questions for thought leaders, introduce yourself to someone you admire, and reach out to those who seem a little lost. Making connections at an event like this will definitely be valuable in the future.

4) Partying with Content Marketers

It’s a surprising but true fact – content marketers know how to party! The event kicks off on Monday night with a pub crawl through the Ohio City neighborhood, sponsored by the wonderful Skyword, followed by a late-night after-party on the waterfront…we’ll see how well-attended those 8am sessions are.
