I am very pleased and honored to share the news that Bill Binch, SVP of Sales for Marketo, was recently named Worldwide Sales VP of the Year by the Stevie Awards at their 5th annual gala awards ceremony for Sales & Customer Service. The Stevie Awards honor organizations of all types and sizes and the people behind them, for their outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide.
The public recognition of Bill’s accomplishment is well deserved. Under his leadership, Marketo experienced growth from 200 customers in July 2009 to over 900 customers to date. Since coming aboard, Bill has grown the sales team from a staff of 4 people to nearly 30, increased Marketo’s average sales price from $18K ARR to $34K ARR, and helped the company earn a spot on Gartner’s magic quadrant after only 1 year in business.
At the Stevies this year, more than 800 entries from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted to the competition. There were 40 categories for sales professionals, ranging from Global Sales Leader of the Year to Sales Training Program of the Year to Sales Department of the Year. Members of the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected Stevie Award winners from among the Finalists and finalists were chosen by business professionals worldwide during preliminary judging.
Michael Gallagher, the president of the Stevie Awards explained, “This year’s class of honorees illustrates that no matter your organization’s size, industry, budget, or location, it’s possible to excel at the two most important functions in business: acquiring and keeping customers.”
Bill’s strategically-driven, world-class sales and business leadership has played a central role in driving Marketo’s sales effectiveness and growing success. Congratulations to Bill for this prestigious and much deserved honor.
